The Royal Society of Medicine announces 25 new Section Presidents

Twenty five new Section Presidents will begin their terms at the Royal Society of Medicine today, the first day of the RSM’s new academic year.

The volunteer Section Presidents play a vital role at the Society. Along with the rest of the Section Council members, they are responsible for leading the programme of events for each of their specialist Sections. Together, our Section volunteers devise the majority of the RSM’s educational programme, spanning all the major medical specialties and topics of interest in healthcare.

Professor Gillian Leng CBE, President of the Royal Society of Medicine, said: “I’m delighted to welcome each of our new Section Presidents as they join me, and our existing Presidents, on our journey to transform the future of healthcare, together.

“The contributions our Section Presidents make are essential to the RSM’s work and impact, and are hugely valued by the RSM Council, leadership and staff. So I’d like to take this opportunity to extend grateful thanks to all our outgoing Presidents for their hard work during their tenures.

“I know that our multi-disciplinary and multi-professional community of member volunteers, led by the Section Presidents, has an exciting programme for the 24/25 year planned. It’s a privilege to be part of it. Whether as a member or a participant at one of our events, I hope you can join us and be a part of it, too, as we work towards our goal of better healthcare for better lives.”
