The Royal Society of Medicine is delighted to extend congratulations to RSM member Professor Dame Robina Shah on her investiture, which took place at Buckingham Palace last week.
Psychologist Professor Shah was awarded Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for Services to Patient Care in the New Year Honours List 2023. She said:
“I am deeply humbled and extremely honoured to receive this accolade. This wonderful recognition reflects decades of working in partnership with patients, service users, families and colleagues.
“Collectively, we have given voice to those in need and helped to improve health and care services to all our people. A heartfelt thanks to them and to my family who have been my guiding light throughout this incredible journey. This award is for all of us!”
Dame Robina is Professor of Medical Education and Psychosocial Medicine at Manchester University Medical School, where she leads the Doubleday Centre for Patient Experience. She is a past President of the Medicine & Society Section at the RSM. An established author, she has a specialist interest in medical education, psychosocial medicine, equality, diversity, inclusion and supporting family carers with neurodiverse children.
