Ellison-Cliffe Travelling Fellow Dr Sharon Man is currently an ST7 cardiology registrar at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester and is sub-specialising in cardiac electrophysiology and implantable devices.
When she moves to France in October 2023 she will be working in a network of specialist hospitals in Paris, Lyon and Toulouse to develop specific skills and knowledge to treat arrhythmias in patients with congenital heart diseases. She will also conduct collaborative research in the clinical outcomes of ablative and devices treatment and predictors of recurrence of arrhythmias and sudden death in this population which is currently not well known.
Speaking after winning her Ellison-Cliffe Travelling Fellowship, Dr Man said: “It means that I can afford to take up the unique opportunity abroad to develop advanced skills to apply to my future practice as a consultant cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist in the UK.
“I hope this will enable me to develop or join up with existing specialist services to look after a growing population of patients, scattered across the UK, who have survived cardiac surgeries into adulthood and improve their quality of life due to troublesome arrhythmias.”
