Director of Operations and Managing Director of the Royal Society of Medicine Commercial Services Board, Nigel Collett, will be retiring and leaving the organisation on 17 June this year.
Nigel has been with the RSM for 16 years and throughout his time, has been a member of the Senior Management Team and in 2018/19 acted as Interim Chief Executive.
RSM Chief Executive, Michele Acton, said “Nigel is an outstanding colleague whose extensive knowledge, judgement and passion have contributed hugely to the success of the RSM.
“His exceptional commitment to the Society was ever more present during these last two years of the pandemic and I greatly valued his support as we navigated the many challenges that we faced.”
During his tenure, Nigel has overseen a significant range of high-profile events including the annual three-day scientific conference for Medicine Sans Frontiers which started broadcasting globally from the RSM’s building via the internet.
He has been at the helm of commercial operations during many busy periods of activity and was responsible for increasing the financial contributions of that area to the RSM.
Nigel Collett said: “After 16 years’ service to the RSM and its members, I have decided to retire. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone I have worked with at the RSM and in particular the amazing colleagues in Commercial Services, both past and present.
“I am forever grateful for their contributions in providing income for the RSM to deliver its charitable objectives.”
Michele Acton added: “On behalf of all trustees, staff and members, I want to thank Nigel for his unwavering service to the RSM. Nigel will be sorely missed by us all. But we are absolutely delighted that he will now have the opportunity to enjoy his retirement, after many dedicated years of hard work.”
