Mr Fateh Ahmad, President of the Plastic Surgery Section at the Royal Society of Medicine, offered two pieces of advice to trainees new to the field in a recent interview for PMFA Journal. Don’t be afraid to venture out of your comfort zone; and embrace your complications – keep your patients close and look after them more than ever.
Mr Ahmad, who is a Consultant Plastic, Head & Neck and Craniofacial Surgeon at St Andrew's Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns in Essex, has been a member of the RSM for coming up to 20 years.
He has been closely involved in the delivery of high-quality educational content to RSM members and is a teaching and training enthusiast. “I strongly believe that teaching is the best way to learn,” he told PMFA Journal. “I enjoy training and take great satisfaction from seeing trainees blossom into better surgeons, in many cases better than me!”
