Professor Alan Roberts OBE, Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, recipient of the RSM Medal and former RSM Vice-President and Honorary Treasurer has sadly died.
Specialising in in biomaterials, clinical prosthetics and implants in reconstructive surgery, Professor Roberts was awarded the Prince Philip Medal for research in the field of implantation materials in 1970, an MBE in 1982, and an OBE for contributions to science and technology in 2002.
Professor Roger Kirby, President of the Royal Society of Medicine, said: “Alan Roberts made a remarkable contribution to medical science, to society more widely through his support of several charities, and to the Royal Society of Medicine over several decades.
“He worked tirelessly as an ambassador for the Society and we are so grateful for his enthusiasm and support for all aspects of our work. We offer our deepest condolences to Alan’s family and friends.”
