The Royal Society of Medicine is delighted to announce that Professor Nik Patel has been re-elected as Chair of the Academic Board.
Professor Patel is a senior consultant cardiologist practising at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and undertakes a range of educational roles, including overseeing training programmes in the Kent Surrey and Sussex School of Medicine.
He was first appointed as Chair of the RSM’s Academic Board for a term of three years from 1 October 2019 to 30 September 2022. Following his re-election, he will remain as Chair for a further two years from 1 October 2022 to September 2024.
The Academic Board is responsible for delivering the academic and learning functions of the RSM.
During these challenging times, Nik has worked with the Section presidents to improve the RSM’s education and digital learning initiatives.
He looks forward to supporting the Sections with their future programmes and broadening the educational offering to healthcare professionals.
