At its most recent meeting, the Royal Society of Medicine’s Council passed a special resolution to extend Professor Roger Kirby’s term of office as President by up to one year.
This means that his term of office must end no later than July 2024.
Under paragraph 3.7(vii) of the Society’s By-Laws, the Council can make such an extension ‘in extremis’. Council considered that given the unprecedented challenges facing the Society, including dealing with the impact and on-going implications of Covid-19, that continuity of senior leadership was vital at this time.
