The Royal Society of Medicine is deeply saddened to hear of the recent death of Professor Amit Patel. Immediate Past President of the RSM’s Section of Pathology, Professor Patel was a Consultant in Cellular Therapies and Transplantation at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and MAHSC Honorary Clinical Chair at The University of Manchester.
Extending sympathies to Professor Patel’s family, friends and colleagues, Professor Roger Kirby, President of the Royal Society of Medicine, said: “We are so very sad to hear of Amit Patel’s death. He was a staunch supporter of the RSM, joining the Pathology Section Council in 2005 and leading the Section from 2019 until he stepped down as President last month. We are grateful for the immense contribution he made to the work and life of the Society.”
A memorial board has been put together by Professor Patel’s colleagues and a prize in his memory has been set up by the RSM’s Pathology Section Council Members. Follow this link for more information.
