Following the recent RSM Council election, four new trustees will be joining the RSM Council at the beginning of the 2018-2019 academic year.
Dr Claire Bayntun is a past President of the RSM Conflict & Catastrophe Forum. She is a clinical consultant and assistant professor in Global Public Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine where she is Director of Global Leadership Programmes. She is a recognised advocate for diversity, access and equity at work, and more broadly in medicine.
Dr Elizabeth Haxby is a council member of the RSM Section of Patient Safety. An anaesthetist by background, she is an consultant at the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust where she is the lead clinician in clinical risk, encompassing patient safety, quality improvement and medico-legal work including inquests.
Dr Stephanie Kaye-Barrett is the President of the RSM Section of Rheumatology. She has sat on various governance and leadership committees at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and played a major part in teaching in her role as Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College. She is currently Medical Director at the Chelsea Rheumatology Clinic.
Professor Linda Luxon is a past President of the RSM Section of Clinical Neurosciences. From 2010 to 2016 she was Emeritus Professor, University College London and Honorary Consultant Physician in Neuro-otology at University College London Hospital. She was awarded a CBE for services to medicine in 2010.
The four new trustees will take office on 1 October 2018.
Mr Martin Bailey will continue as the RSM’s Vice President for a further year, demitting office in October 2019 and Reverend Hilary De Lyon will become an additional Vice President for two years, effective from 1 October 2018.
Professor Nadey Hakim and Professor Roger Motson will demit office on 30 September 2018. The RSM President, Council and Directors thank them for all their support and contributions to the RSM during their term of office.
