We are pleased to host Professor Alan Silman, Professor of Musculoskeletal Health at Oxford University and Senior Research Fellow at Green Templeton College, for a fascinating lecture about the Swiss German artist, Paul Klee.
With a very distinctive art style, Paul Klee was a key member of the “Blauer Reiter” (Blue Rider) school of expressionism which included famous members such as Kandinsky and the composer Arnold Schoenberg. He developed scleroderma when in exile from Nazism in Switzerland and documented his deteriorating health in his art.
Through his distinguished research record in scleroderma, our expert speaker will review what is known about Klee’s life and, with ample illustrations from his portfolio, describe what is possibly a unique example of a world famous artist using his own health as the backdrop to his work.
