The London School of Paediatrics is excited to deliver its annual trauma focused study day designed for all Paediatric trainees, with an emphasis on those with a keen interest in Emergency Medicine and the management of trauma in paediatric patients.
You can expect an in-depth discussion of how best to approach paediatric trauma in a systematic method and the initial steps taken upon acute presentation to the children’s emergency department.
You will also learn the specific interventions used to effectively manage common paediatric traumas, as well as consider the approach to major trauma incidences involving paediatric and adolescent patients.
By attending, you will:
- Have a systematic approach for trauma patients and common trauma presentations.
- Understand the specific interventions delivered in different types of trauma including, abdominal trauma, brain injuries and burns.
- Know general principles to the approach and management of major trauma and the support for young people.
- Recognise the process of applying for subspecialty training, and special-interest training (SPIN) in Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM).
