About this event

  • Date and time Tue 6 Feb 2024 from 9:00am to 8 Feb 2024 at 5:00pm
  • Location Royal Society of Medicine
  • Organised by Orthopaedics

Join us for our popular, annual Orthopaedic Trauma Symposium which will provide a comprehensive update on evidence-based management and operative techniques in orthopaedic trauma for practising surgeons and dedicated teaching sessions for surgical trainees to aid preparation for the UK Fellowship examination. Get 25% OFF when booking for three days or 15% OFF for two days.

The successful interactive format includes short lectures, case-based discussions and demonstrative surgical masterclasses where the distinguished faculty will share their knowledge and expertise on a wide variety of clinically relevant topics. Days 1 and 2 consist of two streams: The main program of relevant and common topics delivered by opinion leaders and experts, whereas the second stream will focus on a concurrent didactic program aimed at middle-grade attendees preparing for their examination as well as established surgeons looking to refresh their knowledge. Participants from both streams will be able to attend the main keynote lectures. Day 3 is a single-stream event.

Upon completion of this year's programme, participants can expect to:

  • Assess the efficacy of new treatment options through evidence-based data
  • Identify workable management solutions for DVT prophylaxis after orthopaedic trauma
  • Understand the latest principles in fracture healing and gain the latest knowledge of effective therapies for non-union
  • Appreciate concepts of stable soft tissue cover after open and high-energy closed injuries
  • Gain knowledge of exciting emerging techniques and evidence for infection prevention & treatment
  • Update on recent advances in intramedullary nailing of lower limb fractures
  • Latest news for the national hip fracture database
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the assessment & treatment of spinal trauma for the non-spinal surgeon
